He married Etta KIRBY in Towns County, Georgia, February 7, 1902. Etta was born September 29, 1885. Etta died May 19, 1967 at 81 years of age. Her body was interred in Burch Cemetery, Hiawassee, Georgia.

James Virgil BARRETT and Etta KIRBY had the following children:

child + 172 vii. Emma Irene BARRETT was born September 13, 1919.

child + 173 viii. Allene BARRETT was born September 27, 1922.

child + 174 ix. Corine BARRETT was born January 22, 1925.
